Mental Health First Aid (MHFA)

Adult and Youth Mental Health First Aid classes are available in both virtual and in person format. Single learners as well as groups are encouraged to attend.

The Community Action Poverty Simulation provides a powerful and unique opportunity to “walk in the shoes” of someone living in poverty, experiencing a variety of facets of life during four 15-minute “weeks.”  It also opens the discussion of the resources that communities have or don’t and how/where to find them in different communities.

Friday Night at the ER teaches people to collaborate across functional boundaries to achieve system goals. The game is useful to people in all industries and with varied levels of knowledge and experience. It’s adaptable to meet a variety of specific objectives, and it’s suitable with small or large groups.

The goal of this simulation is for participants to gain an understanding of the significant obstacles faced by men and women attempting to navigate the system upon their release from incarceration and returning home to their communities. To walk in the shoes of one who is returning home gives invaluable insight for professionals who are tasked with helping those individuals achieve a successful reentry.
